Yusuf Deriyeh, of Aqraba municipality, told the PIC reporter that chemical materials, usually used as insecticides, were put in a water trough in a pastoral area opposite to an agricultural land confiscated by settlers.
Sixteen out of two hundred sheep died after drinking the poisoned water and the number is expected to increase, Deriyeh said.
He pointed out that preliminary investigations indicate deliberate poisoning of the sheep. He added the sheep belong to Mohammad Ibrahim Hammad, who described the incident as a great loss.
Hammad asked competent authorities to put an end to the continuous threat of settlers on pastoral areas which have been sustaining frequent attacks at the hands of Jewish settlers of nearby Israeli colonies.
